Your patients’ conditions such as behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue, and autoimmune diseases could be due to their metabolic processes. Get a comprehensive result and find out with the Organic Acids Test.

Principal

The Great Plains Laboratory, Inc., GPL (Lenexa, Kansas, USA)

Description

Provides a snapshot of the metabolism based on comprehensive assessment of 76 unique urinary metabolites that can be useful for discovering underlying causes of chronic illness

Indications

Autism, ADD / ADHD, autoimmune, chronic fatigue, digestive problems, metabolic disorders, mental health disorders, neurological disorders

Specimen

10 ml first morning urine before food or drink

Preparation

Avoid consumption of the following foods within 24 hours: apple, grapes, pears, raisins, cranberries; avoid within 12 hours: arabinogalactan, echinacea, reishi mushrooms, and ribose supplements

Methodology

Gas or liquid chromatography linked with mass spectrometry

A METABOLIC SNAPSHOT OF THE BODY’S PROCESSES

The Organic Acids Test provides a comprehensive picture of the body’s processes by analyzing the patient’s urine. The urine can provide “markers” or indicators of toxicity.

The OAT offers the most complete and accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. These factors are very important when it comes to neurological, gastrointestinal, and movement disorders. Abnormal toxic metabolites of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, magnify food allergies, impede the absorption of vitamins, affect energy levels, and immune function.

HOW THE OAT CAN HELP YOUR PATIENTS

  • Provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria
  • Includes markers for vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter levels, and is the only OAT to include markers for oxalates, which are highly correlated with many chronic illnesses.
  • Can be very useful for discovering underlying causes of chronic illness, allergic condition or neurological disorder (behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function)

OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR YOUR PATIENTS

  • Sample: 10 mL of first-morning urine before food or drink.
  • Patients must avoid apples, grapes (including raisins), pears, cranberries, and their juices 48 hours prior to specimen collection.
  • Avoid arabinogalactan, echinacea, reishi mushrooms, and ribose supplements for 48 hours before collection.

END-TO-END PROCEDURE

  1. The doctor will prescribe the test.
  2. GMT’s key account manager will get in touch with you to schedule the extraction of the sample. They will also answer additional questions you might have about the procedure.
  3. GMT’s medical technologist will personally go to the agreed location to collect the sample.
  4. The specimen will then be analyzed in the laboratory.

KNOW YOUR PATIENT’S HEALTH THROUGH THEIR METABOLIC PROCESSES

The Organic Acids Test gives you an overview of the patient’s metabolic processes through a thorough examination of 76 urinary markers. Organic acids that are present in the urine can be markers of the function of metabolic pathways. Through this test, chronic health conditions such as autism, ADHD, fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal and neuropsychiatric disorders are revealed.
