FINDING THE IDEAL PERSONALIZED TREATMENT

Cancer is a very prevalent disease and is the third leading cause of mortality in the Philippines. The search for the best treatment for this dreaded disease can be challenging; after all, genetics is significant whether we are accumulators or rapid metabolizers of certain drugs. These are factors in how effective treatment can be and what are the side effects.

HOW ONCONOMICS CAN HELP YOUR PATIENTS

  • Helps clinicians come up with a treatment strategy designed specifically for the patient
  • Takes advantage of the benefits of chemosensitivity testing
  • Genetic profiling for guidance on targeted therapies (e.g. monoclonal antibodies)
  • Produces an individual profile of which cancer drugs can be used to achieve the best treatment outcomes for the patient

USING ONLY THE BEST TECHNOLOGY POSSIBLE

Onconomics uses chemosensitivity testing. These tests use a combination of molecular and cellular approaches and are designed to identify specific anti-cancer drugs. The results of the tests need to be validated, using assays.

On the other hand, gene expression profile viability assays are tests to confirm the viability of the cells that are exposed to the drugs that are being tested.

OTHER HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR YOUR PATIENTS

  • Specimen: Blood
  • Turnaround time: Three to four weeks

END-TO-END PROCEDURE

  1. The doctor will prescribe the test.
  2. GMT’s key account manager will get in touch with you to schedule the extraction of the sample. They will also answer additional questions you might have with the procedure.
  3. GMT’s medical technologist will personally go to the agreed location to collect the sample.
  4. The specimen will then be analyzed in the laboratory.

THE MOST IDEAL THERAPIES FOR YOUR CANCER PATIENT CAN BE FOUND THROUGH A SIMPLE TEST

Onconomics gives information about the effect of specific anti-cancer drugs and targeted therapies on a single patient. The test uses a combination of a molecular and a cellular approach by incorporating two procedures: epigenetic analysis and viability assays.
